Sick and miserable in Antalya

The next day as we set off on our lengthy bus trip, I felt absolutely awful. It appears I had come down with a pretty savage case of food poisoning or something else gastro related. It was then that I discovered what would be my diet for the next couple of days – sesame pretzel sticks.  We spent about four hours travelling, stopping at a roadside diner for lunch. As hungry as I was, I felt way too sick to eat any regular food so I camped in the bus, with my bottle of Gatorade for company. When we arrived in Antalya, we had to carry our packs into the little hotel where we staying in the centre of the old town.  The town was gorgeous and the hotel a quite relaxed little place with a beautiful shady courtyard. Unfortunately all I could do was lie in bed, curled up in pain and try to sleep. TC wandered around the town with others in the tour group, swimming in the Mediterranean and enjoying a fabulous meal in a local restaurant apparently. I awoke the next morning and decided to go for a bit of a stroll so I could at least see something of this pretty little coastal town before we bid adieu. They were some absolutely stunning views to the harbor below and as I strolled through the cobblestone3d (and recently paved alleyways, heading toward the town, I came across Hadrian’s Gate, built 1900 years ago when the Roman Emperor came to town.. Turkey really is a historical melting pot as well as crossing the cultural divide between the east and west.
